Projekti EUrban DECO – Eksplorimi i peizazheve urbane të BE-së për një dekonstruim të narrativave koloniale.

EUrban DECO – “Eksplorimi i peizazheve urbane të BE-së për një dekonstruim të narrativave koloniale”, që zgjat nga marsi 2024 deri në shkurt 2026, synon të studiojë trashëgiminë koloniale brenda qyteteve të sotme të BE-së. Duke eksploruar simbolet, narrativat e romantizuara dhe toponiminë, projekti ka për qëllim të shqyrtojë ndikimin afatgjatë të ideologjive koloniale në mjediset urbane të BE-së, duke nisur një debat kolektiv mbi ndikimin e tyre dhe duke promovuar narrative të reja dhe një përkujtim të përbashkët kulturor brenda toponimisë së qyteteve të BE-së. Trashëgimia koloniale e së kaluarës së afërt evropiane do të jetë në qendër të kësaj hetimi transnacional, që synon ngritjen e ndërgjegjes mbi lidhjen midis peizazheve urbane, kujtesës historike dhe integrimit multicultural, si dhe tërheqjen e vëmendjes së gjerë nga autoritetet publike dhe aktorët përkatës.

Rezultatet kryesore të projektit janë: së pari, krijimi i hartave të përditësuara urbane për shtatë qytetet pjesëmarrëse në projekt, që evidentojnë gjurmët kryesore të lidhura me trashëgiminë koloniale (toponimi, ndërtesa, monumente) dhe riemërimi simbolik i tyre nga perspektiva e popujve të kolonizuar për të zhvilluar një narrativë historike më gjithëpërfshirëse. Së dyti, organizimi i shtatë ngjarjeve ndërkombëtare, secila duke trajtuar një temë specifike të historisë koloniale evropiane, që do të përfshijnë aktivisht grupe kyçe si komunitetet e imigrantëve, minoritetet, gratë dhe autoritetet lokale. Së treti, krijimi i një rrjeti transnacional qytetarësh, që synon të tërheqë vëmendjen e politikëbërësve ndaj temës së trashëgimisë koloniale në qytetet e BE-së dhe të kërkojë veprime kolektive për të rishqyrtuar atë.

Të gjitha aktivitetet e projektit do të realizohen duke mbajtur një fokus të ngushtë mbi perspektivën gjinore, duke konsideruar ndërthurjet historike midis çështjeve gjinore dhe kolonializmit. Një qasje e ndjeshme ndaj gjinisë do të sigurohet në të gjitha ngjarjet, falë mbikëqyrjes dhe koordinimit tematik e metodologjik të rrjetit Women of Mediterranean East and South European Network (IT), Vital Aid Foundation (NL) dhe Solution: Solidarité et Inclusion Association (FR).

Projekti financohet nga programi CERV Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values, në kuadër të segmentit për angazhimin dhe pjesëmarrjen qytetare – European Remembrance, dhe përfshin partnerë nga Italia, Spanja, Franca, Portugalia, Holanda, Shqipëria dhe Gjermania.

EUrban DECO project – Exploring EU urban landscapes for a deconstruction of colonial narratives.

EUrban DECO – “Exploring EU urban landscapes for a deconstruction of colonial narratives”, running from March 2024 to February 2026, explore the colonial legacy inside today’s EU cities. By exploring symbols, romanticized narratives, and toponymy, the project aims to investigate the long-lasting influence of colonial ideologies in EU urban environments, starting a collective debate about their impact and promoting new narratives and shared cultural remembrance inside EU cities’ toponymy. The colonial legacy of Europe’s recent past will be put at the core of this transnational investigation aimed at raising awareness on the relationship between urban landscapes, historic memory and multicultural integration and attracting wider attention on the topic from public authorities and stakeholders.

The key outcomes of the project are: first, the creation of updated urban maps for the seven cities involved in the project, highlighting key traces linked to the colonial legacy (toponymy, buildings, monuments) and symbolically renaming them under the perspective of colonized peoples to develop a more inclusive historical narrative. Second, the organization of seven transnational events, each addressing a specific topic of European colonial history, that will actively involve key target groups such as immigrant communities, minorities, women and local authorities. Third, the establishment of a transnational citizens’ network aimed to attract policy makers’ attention to the topic of colonial legacy in EU cities and demanding collective action to re-discuss it.

All project activities will be carried out keeping a close focus on gender perspective, considering the historical interconnections between gender issues and colonialism. A gender-sensitive approach will therefore be ensured in all events, thanks to the supervision and thematic and methodological coordination of Women of Mediterranean east and south European Network (IT), Vital Aid Foundation (NL) and Solution: Solidarité et Inclusion Association (FR).

The project is funded by the CERV Citizens, Equality, Right and Values Programme, Citizens’ engagement and participation strand – European Remembrance and involves partners from Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, The Netherlands, Albania and Germany.
